ICT Gateway

The ICT Gateway is an initiative of the Bishops Action Foundation and aims to respond to the needs of the voluntary and community sector by building the capacity of these organisations to effectively plan and utilise Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

The ICT Gateway will ensure that the voluntary and community sector is at the leading edge of ICT developments and that these organisations and the people they support are able to gain maximum benefit as a result.

1. Guidance for planning ICT - many organisations in the voluntary and community sector report a skills gap in the strategic use of ICT. In order to deliver and enhance their services in an environment of change, competition and increasing expectations organisations must develop robust ICT strategies.

2. Resourcing ICT - The ICT Gateway will explore models and opportunities to enable voluntary and community organisations to access appropriate yet affordable
ICT equipment based on strategic planning for ICT. An innovative hardware donation and matching scheme will form a core part of this goal.

3. Managing ICT - staff within voluntary and community organisations often don’t have access to ‘paid for’ technical advice and support.
